I founded Mother Wit Writing and Design in 1983, but have worked as a graphic designer since 1975. Among other accomplishments, my creative studio has won the West Virginia Communicators Best of Show award and several First Place awards from the National Federation of Press Women. West Virginia Symphony Orchestra

This is the cover of a nearly-300-page book that traces the history of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra since its beginning as a local orchestra in 1939. Written by Patricia Richards McClure and edited by P.J. Dickerscheid, the book includes many photos, an index, and a comprehensive repertoire from 80 years of symphony performances.

West Virginia Women Vote

Designed for the Kanawha Valley Chapter of the National Organization for Women, this logo has been adopted by the West Virginia Secretary of State as the state’s official logo to celebrate the centennial of women winning the right to vote in 1920.

With sponsorship from the West Virginia Humanities Council, the centennial celebration also includes a play commissioned by the state’s NOW chapter and a series of informational radio essays about the history of the suffrage movement in the U.S. and West Virginia.

The Thinking Project

The Thinking Project is a grassroots 501c3 nonprofit that works with teachers and students to question fixed-mindset thinking, support social-emotional health, and build vibrant, open-minded learning communities. Based on and inspired by IBSR (Inquiry Based Stress Reduction), we work with students in classrooms and camps to help them develop an awareness of thought.

Flying Pig Improv

flying_pig_logo.jpg

This logo was designed for the immensely creative and talented improv artist and teacher, Jessie Gray. She thinks the pig in flight is a good metaphor for her work (and play). In her own words: “I'm crazy about them. Flying Pigs. They represent the impossible becoming possible.”

fortissimo_logo.jpg

Fortissimo Piano Studio

This logo embodies the grace and fluidity of the music made by a professional pianist and teacher with many years of experience.

Monongahela Forest Hiking Guide

The 9th edition of this popular guide, edited by Hugh Rogers, has been redesigned and updated with new, full-color maps and plenty of gorgeous color images by photographer Kent Mason.
